Welcome to the Crypto Course

1 min

This course was written for people starting from zero. No maths degree, no trading history, no jargon you are expected to already know. If you can use a phone and a bank app, you can follow every page of it.

We move in order. First what money on the internet actually is, then how coins move between people, then how buying and selling works in Namibian dollars, then the markets themselves, and finally how to keep what you own safe. Each level ends with a short test, and your progress is saved on this device so you can stop at any point and pick up later.

One promise up front: nothing here tells you what to buy. Crypto prices move violently in both directions and plenty of people lose money in them. The point of the course is to make you the kind of person who understands what they are holding and why.

What Is Cryptocurrency?

A cryptocurrency is money that lives on a shared public record instead of inside one company's database. That record is called a blockchain, and thousands of computers around the world keep an identical copy of it. When you send coins, those computers all agree the transfer happened, and the record updates everywhere at once.

Why that matters: there is no branch to close, no clerk to approve you, and no single office that can quietly change the balances. The trade-off is that there is also nobody to call when you make a mistake. The network does exactly what you instruct, even when the instruction was wrong.

Digital, not physical. There is no coin to hold. What you own is the right to move an entry on the ledger.

Borderless. A transfer to Lagos costs the same as a transfer to the person sitting next to you.

Always open. No public holidays, no closing time, no cut-off at 3 p.m.

Irreversible. Once a transaction is confirmed it cannot be reversed by anyone, including the network itself.
